Eskenazi Roza

She was born on the 13th March 1992 in Limassol. As a student at the Limassol Music Lyceum «Marios Tokas» she participated in traditional song competitions and in various choirs. In 2014, she graduated from the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia with a specialisation in Traditional Song. In 2016, she received the Second Prize at the PanHellenic Music Competition of the Club of UNESCO Arts and Science in Athens in the «Traditional Song» category. From February 2015 until February 2017 she studied for a Master’s degree (specialisation: Popular Music Culture: Traditional Song Interpretation and Performance) at the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia. More specifically, she focused her research on Roza Eskenazi’s voice and she wrote a dissertation under the title: «Roza Eskenazi: Pre-war rebetiko and traditional music songs. A study on her vocal and interpretation technique and its reflective music score transcription». Currently, she performs regularly in Greece and Cyprus.
