Manos Hadjidakis is one of the most significant contemporary Greek composers, renowned both in Greece as well as beyond the borders of his own country. His work covers a broad musical spectrum of songs, orchestral music, pieces for piano and compositions for the ballet, the theatre and the cinema. Hadjidakis' music is outstanding for its overflowing lyricism, the wealth of its timbres and a distinctive musical idiom which combines a great diversity of musical influence at a high aesthetic level.
