The Guitar Book No. 5 completes the material intended for Lower Level students of the Conservatory qualifying for Intermediate Level.

It will be clear that the works included in this volume demand not only technical but also expressive and interpretative skills with particular stress on phrasing, sonority and sound quality.

As with previous books in the series, I would like to express my gratitude to four outstanding pupils of mine - to Bessy Diagoma and Manolis Vrontinos for their assistance with corrections in the pieces chosen, to Maria Tzanou for help on passages in the final pages, to Dimitris Ioannou, a specialist in early lute music; also to my friend Peter Segal for editing the English texts on composers and their works.
