Hellenic Sound
Scholarly Greek composers from the 13th to 20th century
Polis Ensemble pay a modest tribute to the work of some of the most important scholarly composers of Greek origin, from the late Middle Ages to the 20th century. The present work is not an anthology, in the sence of collecting the most representative compositions of modern Greek art music. Rather, the ensemble sees this as a deeply personal homage to some of the music that its members feel closest to and most influenced by. The sextet's members selected —only a few— indicative excerpts from a broad repertory, not hesitating to adapt it to the unique technical requirements of the musical instruments.
