In order to see and admire Lefkada's vegetation you must bend over, kneel on the earth, peer closely at the ground, make obeisance or in other words be humbled by small wild flowers, be scratched by spiny brooms and pricked by thorns, to be able to appreciate a marvellous peony under some bush, walk for miles to be granted the boon of the sight of the complex shapes and colours of the orchids that grow from one end of our land to the other!
