Queen lead vocalist Freddie Mercury had an amazing voice (even according to science), and the band itself produced iconic tunes that have stood the test of time. One of their most well known—and epic—songs is “Bohemian Rhapsody,” a dramatic six-minute performance that includes a ballad segment, a hard rock part, as well as a reflective ending. Many bands and musicians have covered “Bohemian Rhapsody,” but trombonist Christopher Bill has thought of one of the most creative ways yet. He, along with 27 of his fellow trombonists, assembled to perform the song using only their musical instruments.

The incredible cover took place at the 2018 International Trombone Festival. Bill called it his “secret project,” and he boasts that it gathers some of the most talented trombonists today—many of whom play in symphonies around the world. It lives up to the hype; watching and listening to the musicians record in unison is incredible. If you’re unfamiliar with the trombone, you’ll be impressed with how well the single instrument matches the highs, lows, and rocking parts of the song. You can practically hear Mercury singing with them.
