Labyrinth Online is excited to announce our Summer courses!

In this 30-hour course we will focus on the basic makams of the Istanbul tradition, which combine to form all the other makams.

Our basic guide in this effort will be the great instructors and archival recordings, and we will try to improve and broaden our understanding by comparing the Arabic, Persian, Byzantine, Turkish folk (halk), and, chiefly, the Ottoman sanat traditions.

The makams we will study are: Rast, Ussak, Segah, Huzzam, Saba, Hicaz, Acem – Acemasiran, Nikriz, Nihavent, Kurdi – Kurdilihicazkar

Cost is $240 (US) for 30 hours of instruction (3 hours/day for ten sessions)
