Music and Science Open Day 2021

Location: online, via Zoom (link will be sent to all registered participants the week before the event). The event is free and open to the public, but all attendees must register in advance via this registration form.
In lieu of our annual Music and Science Symposium in Durham, this year we will be holding an entirely virtual Music and Science Open Day. This event coincides with the launch of our new Masters (MA) Specialism in Music and Science, which will commence in Autumn 2021 (read more about this programme here!). In addition to a broad selection of research presentations/demonstrations from our academic staff and current postgraduate students, we will give an overview of the plans for the MA pathway and include a Q&A session for prospective students looking to find out more about pursuing an MA in Music and Science.

13:00-13:15: Introduction to Music and Science research at Durham
13:15-14:00: Practical demonstrations
14:00-14:15: Break
14:15-15:15: Research presentations (3 presentations of 15 min + 5 min questions each)**
15:15-15:30: Break
15:30-16:30: Research presentations (3 presentations of 15 min + 5 min questions each)**
16:30-17:00: Q&A session for prospective students with current staff/students
**Research presentations will be given by current academic staff and postgraduate students and will include the following topics: music and emotions, music and memory, rhythm and entrainment in music performance, cross-cultural music research, music and mind-wandering
