Bridging two worlds | Lefteris Moumtzis | TEDx University of Nicosia

I come from a small island growing up at a time ridden with post-war sentiments. Although filled with insecurity and fear I had boundless passion for music but a somewhat suppressed need for creative expression. My expectations stifled my accomplishment to be recognized – constantly feeling not good enough. This is an independent musician’s story of faith, questioned confidence, and perseverance. Lefteris Moumtzis is a musician, songwriter and producer. With a career spanning twenty years, Lefteris has produced acclaimed solo and band recordings and his albums with Trio Tekke represent milestones of contemporary Greek rembetiko music.

In 2016, he released his first solo album under his real name, ‘Now Happiness’ and, in February 2019, his first album as Freedom Candlemaker titled Beaming Light, which marks a new era for his career. He has composed music for various theatre productions and is the artistic director of Φεστιβάλ Φέγγαρος – Fengaros Festival, Μουσικό Χωριό Φέγγαρος – Fengaros Music Village and the record label Louvana Records. Since 2018, he has been conducting the workshop ‘The Musician’s Mindset’.
