At the age of 19, Berten D’Hollander made his orchestral debut as a piccolo flutist in the Orchestra of the “Flemish Opera” and subsequently held flute chairs in the “Flemish Ballet Orchestra”, “The National Symphony Orchestra” and the Royal Opera House “La Monnaie”.

Only several years later, he was appointed professor of flute at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven. Since then, he has resigned from the orchestra to pursue a career as an international soloist. Currently, Berten is also teaching the flute at the musikhochschules of Cologne-Köln- and Aachen in Germany.

As the soloflutist of Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles, Berten is also very active in the domain of contemporary music, his last recording was “Sanaalijal”, a fluteconcerto Claude Ledoux wrote for him, edited by Cypres records.
